Seen as one of UK’s foremost interior and furniture designers, Francis Sultana has envisioned what it is possible one of the most expensive bathroom designs ever. What differentiates this exquisite bathroom set from others is that it grants the possibility for users to be completely immersed in another world and time. So, today, Luxury Bathrooms will explore the ideas of the designer when building this brilliant bathroom design.
“I feel that making a bathroom a place of escape and contemplation rather than practicality is something we have lost recently. I hate that bathrooms are often an ‘after thought’ and hidden away. I want the bathroom to reclaim its role and to be a space worth spending time in” – Francis Sultana
The designer feels like a residential bathroom shouldn’t be all about functionality but it ought to have more extravagant features as if it was a spa because after all, it is one of the spaces one spends the most time in. So with this design, Sultana tries to bring back decadent boudoir.
First and foremost, this bathroom design was inspired by Hollywood glamour, especially influences from the Art Deco and Baroque movements. The oval-shaped bathroom highlights elliptical lines that are both sensual and romantic, as he further explains, “that’s all about personal indulgence and offering yourself time alone.”
White and pink will be some of the main tones to be featured in this project, not to mention the use of only the finest materials and furniture pieces. Nature will also be one of the heavily portrayed themes in this set, “Inspired by forest bathing, with large windows opening into nature, [the bathroom allows you] to be at one with the environment while also being in the lap of luxury, which is a wonderful combination.”
A grand entrance, large sliding doors, gilded columns, a massive free-standing bath, a dramatically lengthy chandelier are other elements one can expect to see in this ambitious bathroom design.
As a whole, Sultana’s main purpose was to create something individual, one can enjoy in the personal time, that is not really meant to be shared with the entire family. It is expected to cost over HK$7.8 MILLION.
