In collaboration with the renowned design platform Houzz, the leading British media company, Homes & Property launched their very first ever London Home Design Awards, that received hundreds of entries. The best bathroom makeover project was one of the main categories, sponsored by luxury bathroom specialist Kohler and it was awarded to Jess Hurrell. Now, Luxury Bathrooms will explore a bit more about this winning makeover project, so be prepared to be inspired.
Jess Hurrell, a former journalist who just started a new career in styling and interiors, was the big winner of the awards. A year ago, Hurrell created her own blog, “Gold Is a Neutral”. Her interiors are luxurious and glamorous with the presence of metallic touches.
In her makeover project, Hurrell made use of a brass-faced vanit unit to completely give another look to the bathroom set. Her favorite materials, marble and brass, can also be seen throughout this design.
Hurrell replaced a jacuzzi with a Victoria + Albert Baths’ freestanding tub in volcanic limestone. The designer also selected brass taps and gigantic shower heads from Perrin & Rose. She also repositioned the exposed pipework under the floor and covered it with encaustic tiles from Bert & May.
The vanity top is in Arabescato marble and combines perfectly with the shower tiles from Topps Tiles. Hurrell also opted to place sconces on both sides of a round mirror in order to give a brighter touch to the bathroom.
“Your bathroom is a big investment, so love it as much as any other room in your house. Yes, have function and practicality but don’t cut back on style. Take your phone to the bathroom in any nice restaurant/hotel and keep gathering ideas.”
