In the occasion of designjunction 2018, one of the main design destinations of London Design Festival, VitrA will become the first bathroom brand to ever exhibit on the show by showcasing its latest designer collection, Plural by Milan-based American designer Terri Pecora. The event will take place from 20-23 September on London’s South Bank and Vitra will be exhibiting in Stand F6, Doon Street Site. In the meantime, Luxury Bathrooms explores the essence of this unique collection.
Inspired by the heritage of communal bathing spaces and rituals, Terri Pecora and VitrA seek to transform the bathroom into a social hub, giving it a more diverging functionality than what the industry is used to, where people can meet and reconnect with themselves and others.
“Plural consists of a group of elements, which are meant to be used together or separately and which could almost be in any area of the home. The colour palette and texture featured in the collection are not normally associated with a bathroom environment,” explains Terri Pecora, as he adds, “Plural is very furniture orientated and aims at making the bathroom a versatile living space in its own right where one can spend time at their own leisure”
As a whole, the Plural collection celebrates a contemporary version of shared bathing spaces where each product can provide a new experience. The collection brings technology (through innovative syphon systems) and comfort together providing a more a homey and domestic ambience. Plural also gives a new perspective on the concept of color mixing and the non-whiteness of bathrooms, emphasizing that it is more than alright to play around with different tones.
