Situated on the top floor of a brand-new building in Sofia, Bulgaria, there’s a modern penthouse designed by Desislava Stoilova, of studio DesSign. Maison Valentina continued the modern experience and applied it to the bathroom with Diamond Freestanding, making the private retreat this project deserves.
The area surrounding the apartment has been undergoing a huge urban redevelopment in the last few years. It has proven to be a great opportunity for the making of this project due to its immediate proximity to both, the historical center of Sofia on one side and the nearby Vitosha mountain on the other.
“Penthouse Sofia reflects my philosophy of creating an intriguing atmosphere out of an empty space in accordance with my ideas and more importantly, in agreement with my clients‘ vision and to their satisfaction”, says the designer.

The interweaving of the dynamic city lifestyle and the serenity of the mountain was an inspiration around the idea of a mixture between artificial and natural. On one side, she introduced primal stone and wood, as an explicit reference to the mountain’s intrinsic elements, while on the other side, used glass and brass to mirror modernity.
In addition to giving the space an even more complete and distinct energy, Desislava Stoilova introduced furniture of her own, blended with leading European brands.
Maison Valentina allows the making of spaces of reflexion, wellbeing and personal care. The brand believes that good design is a journey that should be tailored to the individual, where the bathroom is the vital room to express ones’ individuality.
Diamond Freestanding turns heads wherever it stands. It features a wooden structure finished in a high gloss black varnish, a colour that contrasts perfectly with the interior, covered in gold leaf.
Allowing customers to experience their true selves during their invigorating moments, Maison Valentina creates true sensory experiences.
