Over the past few weeks, Luxury Bathrooms introduced two new products from the prestigious bathroom brand, Laufen Bathrooms, both designed by two of the world’s best interior designers, Marcel Wanders and Patricia Urquiola, Today, we will display the Val collection by Munich-based designer, Konstantin Grcic. This unique collection combines the aesthetic lightness of SaphirKeramik with a masterful design suitable for everyday use.
The Val bathroom collection is characterized by clear geometric forms, thin walls and extremely narrow edges. “From the very beginning the Val design was supposed to be suitable for everyday use,” says Konstantin Grcic, “we have also stayed with this philosophy for the new pieces.”
The circular element as a design feature is one of the most prominent details of this collection, from the wall-hung toilet to the bidet and floor standing WC-combination. Together, Grcic and Laufen were able to give the ceramic body an extraordinary optical lightness through a skilful combination of straight lines, round basin and tapering elements.
However, the circular eye-catcher of the Val bathroom is the free-standing circular bathtub. Thanks to its narrow edges it interacts perfectly with the filigree washbasins, in itself appearing light and elegant. Its velvety white easy-care surface caresses the skin, inviting the user to stay in the bathtub for a little longer.
The elegant washbasin faucets in the series are defined by the fact that both the faucet body and the lever and drain taper upwards or forwards. This gives the single lever mixers a slim, light look, which harmonises completely in form with the thin-walled SaphirKeramik of the washbasins.
